getting settled

Well, little by little routine is entering our lives and that does wonders for helping you feel more settled. The boys started kindergarten this week and looked very cute in their uniforms. Tyler is loving it and Nate is getting there slowly - I think he has forgotten that he ever spent hours on end in nursery in the UK when we were running MOMIJI!
The weather is finally cooling down a little, having said that it was 30 degrees today.
Hope all our former customers are well, drop me a line if and when you have time.

slowly settling in

hi anyone who has been patient enough to wait from me to get round to posting something.....

well we;ve got a house, a car, mobiles and some furniture、leaving just the small factors of a job to pay for it all and a nursery for the kids to enable me work!!

I had forgotten how disgustingly hot Japanese summer is, probably just as well! I miss England enough as it is!

we:ll be online athome in a couple of weeks so i:ll put some pictures on then.

bye for now

(by the way we are all enjoying the amazing food food available at ridiculously cheap prices!!, sorry!)

brillo pads and marigolds

After a week of packing, cleaning, and scrubbing, we finally handed the key to the restaurant back on Monday evening, June1st. It was actually a day earlier than expected as I'd been called up for an op to remove a couple of wisdom teeth on the Tuesday. We couldn't have got everything done without help and support, so thank you to those people, we owe you one!

It felt very weird packing away all the plates, pictures, wall hangings, and bits and pieces that made Momiji Momiji. But once we'd served the last meal and said our goodbyes to customers and staff, packing the boxes seemed to be the easy part! Taka told me off for my blog being boring, so I promise to try to make it a bit more dynamic with pictures and so on. There's one that might amuse you anyway, me and my balloon-face on Tues evening - I'll get one on tomorrow. Now it's just an attractive shade of yellow as the bruise works it's way out.... Oh yeah and I was expecting 2 teeth to be removed but woke up to the news they'd taken 5, yes 5! 4 wisdom teeth and one "extra" tooth that was tucked away behind one of my wisdom teeth!

Last food served from the MOMIJI Kitchen

I think both Taka and myself felt a bit emotional as the final plates were sent out from the kitchen yesterday lunchtime, suddenly seemed real! We're now into the graft of cleaning and packing up ready to vacate the property. We were pleased to see so many of our customers over the last weekend, it was great to be busy right up to the end and we'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their support and custom throughout our time here in Harleston.

Our Final Week

Well here we are, into our last week, so many customers are supporting us right up the end, we have been touched by their kind comments and good luck cards. We are going to let customers know the address of this blog so they can see what we're up to, it'll be a bit boring for a few weeks but after that, watch this space!

Sushi Sunday

Taka is over at the restaurant starting the preparation of the rice and so on for the sushi orders that customers are picking up throughout the day. We decided to have a Sushi take-away day today because we had surplus rice, vinegar and nori seaweed - the staple ingredients of sushi, just leaving us to source the fish etc.
It will be nice for me to have the chance to chat to some of our most regular customers when they come to pick up their orders. In the restaurant it is usually a bit hectic for a decent chat.

MOMIJI has one week left, doesn't really seem possible! We have seen so many of our customers over the past few weeks and so appreciate their custom right up to the end! At the moment it's hard to see past the end of next week, we just need to concentrate on serving good food to our lovely customers for now!
